Located in the Ottawa Valley just outside of Chesterville, we offer both a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program and a box program which delivers fresh produce directly from the farm to the Ottawa area.

Making it all happen.

The growing season gets underway around mid-March with seedlings being started in trays containing soil, compost and vermiculite. They are watered with kelp or fish emulsions.
Planted rows are 30" in length in each rotation and seeded using a seeder. Succession planting is critical to ensure a continuous supply of greens and other leguminous crops.

ALL of our seeds are certified organic, or open-pollinated, non-GMO, and non-treated. During the growing season there are three areas of concern.

  • Pest Management
A variety of methods are used to management pest. Biological sprays (a mixture of Garlic and Hot Pepper) is used. Floating row covers or remay cloth is employed to cover the crop if necessary. Crops are continually monitored for bugs. Sticky traps may also be used.
  • Water Management
We use mulches to reserve water and keep the plants moist. Rain barrels catch rain water which is then used to water the crops. Soakers hoses connect to a well water system are also used.
  • Plant Growth
Ensure good growth is a process of employing the correct fertilizers and proper maintenance. For this reason weeds are reduced by pulling and tilling. Foliar sprays which are a mixture of fix emulsions and manure teas are used as fertilizers along with a side dressing of compost.
